The ABS Library is a warm and inviting place for students to come and study, read, and learn. The library layout has been recently reformatted to promote students reading on their appropriate reading levels. Each book’s Lexile level is now available on the library website and on the cover of the book itself. Library facilities can be used differently according to grade levels.



  • Students come bi-weekly with their ELA teachers for library lessons
  • During their library visits, the students learn the following skills:
    • Locating books in the library based on call numbers
    • Using Follett library system and Destiny Discover to find information on books
    • Comparing and Contrasting fiction and nonfiction
    • Internet safety skills
    • Researching information and using a library to help with research

Middle/High School

  • Middle and high school teachers arrange library visits with the librarian when they would like to bring their classes for lessons
  • Students visit the library with a pass collected in the morning to study in the library during lunch
  • Students gain volunteer hours through helping librarian with tasks
  • Students use the library facilities to practice different research skills
