Graduation Service Learning Requirement

Starting with the class of 2012, all graduating seniors MUST have completed 40 documented volunteer hours to be eligible to graduate. (The class of 2011 will be required to complete 10 volunteer hours to be eligible to graduate).

Students will have two options for completing their required service learning:

  1. Participate in the annual ABS Spring Break Service Learning Trip.
    • Each trip will be equivalent to 40 hours of service.
  1. Complete the Service Learning and Reflection Log documenting each hour of volunteer service completed with local organizations in Kuwait.
    • Only volunteer hours completed through one of the approved organizations on the attached sheet will be accepted.

    • Students wanting to do volunteer work with an organization or charity not on the list must gain pre-approval from the Guidance Counselor.

    • Volunteering for school activities/functions is encouraged but will NOT satisfy the required service learning hours.
