KG2 CURRICULUM

“Great Expectations”, is an outline of the New York Standards and explains what your child should know and be able to do by the end of the year in Language, Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies.

By the end of the school year, we expect our students to be able to identify letters and sound out all upper and lower-case letters. Students should be able to at a minimum identify numbers from 1-20. Students should know all colors and be able to identify a variety of different shapes. Students will be expected to be able to add and subtract. Students are introduced to several site words throughout the year and should be able to identify high-frequency words such as, the, am, I and other commonly used words.

In order to be promoted to grade 1, all students must pass a test at the end of the year demonstrating their knowledge in all areas mentioned. If your child does not pass the test at the end of the year, they may take a re-test in the summer. If at this time they have yet to pass the test, your child may not be promoted or may be placed on probation with tutoring requirements.
