Athletics at ABS
The ABS Athletics program covers both the academic practical and theoretical aspects of health and well being, but also the participation in competitive sporting leagues.
Physical Education is a crucial part of the total educational program of each student at ABS. Through the medium of sport and movement all students will participate in a sequential, differentiated program that fosters each student's personal health, fitness and safety. Through exposure to a wide variety of activities, students will gain the necessary knowledge to understand the importance of and make educated decisions around opportunities to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
ABS has again enrolled in the ISACK league which allows students of Middle and High school age to participate in a variety of sports such as Volleyball, Basketball, Football & Swimming. In addition to this ABS has enrolled in the Junior KFSAC league which allows students under the age of 12 the chance to compete against other internationals schools in sports such as Bench ball, Indoor football, Unihoc, Athletics and swimming. Students receive coaching for each of these sports to improve their skills and allow them to be more competitive
An exciting addition to this year’s program is the introduction of a School House system. Using the school Wildcats theme the students are affiliated to one of four Houses, which are Lions (Red), Tigers (Green), Puma’s (Yellow) & Cheetah’s (Blue). Each team compete againsts each other throughout the year in Sporting and academic competitions, with the object being to score as many House points as possible in order to become House champions at the end of the year. Points are awarded for good behaviour and points will be deducted for poor behaviour. Each House has a Male and Female House Captain who have the responsibility to organise their teams for each competition.
